Introduction:

Welcome to Aventour Chronicles, where we embark on thrilling journeys, exploring the beauty of nature and the joy of hiking and climbing. In this edition, we take you on a captivating adventure through the warm autumn landscapes of Rungajë, a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.

A Warm Autumn Morning in Vithkuq:

On a warm autumn Sunday morning, the adventure begins at Korça Alpin Club, where enthusiasts gather for a quick coffee before setting out to embrace the refreshing air of Vithkuq. The journey kicks off at the Zotos Bridge, leading to the first stop – the 17th-century Church of St. George. A brief pause at the village’s crossroads to fill our bottles with crystal-clear water and visit the splendid 18th-century Church of St. Mehilli with its fascinating Baptism Grave story. The day promises warmth as we hit the trail, meandering through the picturesque landscapes.

Ascending Rungajë:

Less than an hour into the hike, we find ourselves at a spring, pausing to rejuvenate. In small groups, engaged in tranquil conversations, we resume our journey. Rungaja unfolds before us, and across the valley stands the Church of St. Pandelimon, built by the Berat people when tracing the Caravan Trail. The panoramic view from this point invites us to linger a little longer. Energized, we zig-zag our way up Rungajë.

Autumn’s Palette and Spectacular Views:

The air is crisp, and autumn has painted the surroundings in vibrant hues. The dry grass has turned the mountain into a golden spectacle. A gentle breeze whispers through the landscape. At the peak of Rungajë, the warmth continues. From this vantage point, Gramozi, Ostrovica, Valamara, Mali i Thatë, the Osum Valley, Kolonja, Dangëllia, Vakëfet, Opari, and the entire Korça basin lay at our fingertips. The challenge has fatigued us, prompting a well-deserved rest in the tranquility of nature, high above the world.

Descending with Memories:

The descent is organized and leisurely. Shepherds led their flocks back to their pens as the days of grazing draw to a close. The sun approaches Ostrovica, casting a refreshing glow. In the afternoon mist, we find ourselves in the village, and by evening, we’re back in Korçë, concluding a beautiful day of adventure.

Conclusion:

It was indeed a beautiful day filled with warmth, stunning landscapes, and the camaraderie of fellow adventurers. Rungajë, with its autumnal charm, left an indelible mark on our memories. As we retreated to the city, the echoes of nature’s serenity lingered, reminding us of the extraordinary experiences that await those who dare to explore.
